Partner-Vendor: Akaliko North America
Akaliko North America, the premium brand in replacement hydraulic cylinders for more than 15 years, provides top-quality telescopic cylinders to world-class mining and construction firms for use in construction equipment, such as roll-off/roll-on trucks, transfer trailers, excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, garbage trucks, and dump trucks.
The company’s heavy-duty replacement cylinders and telescopic hoist cylinders are designed to be 100% interchangeable with many brands, including Caterpillar®, Komatsu®, Hitachi®, Volvo®, Hvya®, Hyco®, Custom Hoist®, Parker®, Mailhot®, Muncie®, and others. They operate flawlessly and reliably even in overload-environments.
All Akaliko cylinders are manufactured using high-quality alloy seamless steel pipe, gantry type linear electroplating, and premium Parker sealing components. This ensures the highest performance, rod protection, and corrosion resistance, and adds up to a product that can withstand the harshest environments and provide many years of dependable service.
Which Type of Hydraulic Cylinder Do You Need?
These are the three most common types of hydraulic cylinders:
Tie-rod: Most industrial and manufacturing applications use tie-rod cylinders, although they are not generally as strong as welded cylinders. Anywhere from 4 to 20 threaded steel tie-rods are connected to the barrel to keep the two end caps in place, providing extra stability and preventing fluid leakage. The advantages of the tie-rod cylinder include ease of assembly and maintenance.
Welded: A welded rod hydraulic cylinder has end caps that are welded directly to the barrel to close the case of the cylinder. They typically have narrow bodies and shorter overall length, enabling them to fit better in tight spaces, especially in mobile equipment, but they are difficult to assemble and disassemble.
Telescopic: As the name suggests, telescopic cylinders are constructed like a telescope and consist of a series of tubular rods called “sleeves.” The sleeves decrease in size sequentially and are nested inside of one another. Their greatest advantage is their ability to provide an exceptionally long stroke from a compact initial package.
