• What type of system do you have? – Your hydraulic system may be either open-ended or closed-loop. If your hydraulic equipment circulates fluid that remains inside the system, then it’s a closed-loop system. That creates the pressure needed to do things such as turning gears or moving cylinders. • What type of liquid flows through your hydraulic equipment? – You need to be aware of the “flow media” that moves through your hydraulic system. Some use water, for example.
