Hyco Hydraulic Cylinders
If you are seeking aftermarket Hyco hydraulic cylinders, Gorilla Spares can help. The products we carry are tested to OEM specifications, and we can solve your downtime dilemma with same-day shipping.
Gorilla Spares is not a manufacturer. Instead, we are a multi-vendor marketplace that carries high quality aftermarket replacement (spare) hydraulic, electrical, electronic, and robotic parts for industrial, agricultural and aerospace equipment.
Always synonymous with quality, Hyco®, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of high-performance hydraulic cylinders, was acquired by the Montanhydraulik group in 2017. The company continues to focus primarily on telescopic cylinders.
Gorilla Spares has partnered with Akaliko to meet your needs for 100% interchangeable cylinders for brands such as Hyco®, Parker®, Commercial®, Custom Hoist®, Hyva®, Mailhot®, Fruehauf®, and others.
Akaliko, one of the leading brands in replacement cylinders, provides quality replacement telescopic cylinders to world class mining and construction firms around the globe and has 10 locations across four continents. The heavy-duty construction of their products operates flawlessly and reliably even in overload-environments that many dump applications require.
About Telescopic Hydraulic Cylinders
Hydraulic cylinders are used in heavy equipment that pushes, pulls, lifts, lowers, tilts, extends, clamps, and so on. They are used in construction and forestry machinery, refuse handling equipment, dump trucks, oil and gas field installations and cranes, as well as mining, agricultural, and marine equipment.
Telescopic cylinders, specifically, are used in hydraulic lifting applications where they can provide enough force within a tight space to move large loads. The most common application is dump trailers or dump trucks. A dump truck, for example, is able to empty its load and have its dump body return to a horizontal position thanks to the work of a telescopic cylinder.
Telescopic hydraulic cylinders are constructed like a telescope and consist of a series of tubular rods called “stages” or “sleeves.” The sleeves are nested inside of one another and sequentially decrease in diameter.
The largest sleeve moves first and will complete its stroke before the next sleeve begins to move. This continues until the smallest-diameter sleeve has been fully extended. When retracting, the smallest-diameter sleeve will retract fully before the next sleeve starts to move. This continues until all sleeves have retracted.
At Gorilla Spares, you will typically find two types of telescopic cylinders:
- Single-Acting Telescopic Cylinders: This is the most common type of telescopic cylinder, and it has the simplest design. The cylinder is extended through hydraulic pressure, while retraction occurs by means of external forces such as gravity or a counter weight. Single-acting cylinders are used in applications where some form of load is always on the cylinders.
- Double-Acting Telescopic Cylinders: Double-acting cylinders use hydraulic force in both directions – for extension and retraction –making this design more complex. They are well-suited to refuse vehicles and transfer trailers where neither gravity nor external force can retract the cylinder.
